Privacy Rights and Personal Information

At DataManagementUniversity and DataManagementEducation.com, we take our obligations for privacy very seriously.  This includes the responsibility to receive, hold, store, use, and (upon request) return, transfer and/or delete your personal information securely and reasonably.

We believe that you are entitled to rely upon us to handle your personal information in a responsible and ethical manner, consistent at all times with the requirements of applicable law.  We are also committed to providing you with a personal response to any questions, comments or concerns about how we do so.

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect information from you when you register on our site, place an order for a course, subscribe to our newsletter and content, respond to a survey or fill out a form.  In addition, if your employer is purchasing a course for you to utilize, your employer may provide us with your name and e-mail address without notifying you.

If you access a course, we retain information about your course usage.  If you take a final exam, we retain information regarding your score.

When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, e-mail address, mailing address, and/or phone number.  If you make a purchase from us on our site, we will receive, use and protect your credit or debit card information.  Some of this information will be transferred to the Learning Management System (LMS) that we use to present and administer the courses and examinations.

How Do We Use Your Information?

Any information we collect from you is used primarily to process transactions and fulfill orders related to your purchases, to communicate with you concerning your progress in courses and exams, and to send you periodic emails and other content.

Your personal information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested.  Your personal information may be utilized by us in certain situations, aggregated with such information from other users, in ways which would not identify you in any way publicly or to third parties.

How Do We Protect Your Information?

We utilize a secure server to store and protect all your personal information.  All supplied personal information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our database to be only accessed by those authorized with special access rights to our systems.  These individuals are required to keep the information confidential.

After a transaction involving payment to us by you, your private financial information (credit and debit card numbers, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.  In general, we retain other personal information, like your name and email address, in connection with your use and completion of courses and exams.

Do We Use Cookies?

Yes; Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers’ systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.  We use cookies to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

If you prefer, you can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies via your browser settings.  Like most websites, if you turn your cookies off, some of our services may not function properly.

Do We Disclose Any Information to Outside Parties?

We do not sell, trade, lend, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information.  This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.  We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with applicable law, enforce our site policies, or protect our or others' rights, property, or safety.  However, non-personally identifiable visitor information (generally in aggregated form) may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third party products or services on our website.  These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies.  Therefore, we have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites.  Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

Your Rights in Relation to Your Personal Data

Under our policies and procedures, as well as under applicable law (in some instances), you have certain rights regarding any personal information you or others provide us.  These rights include the following:

  1. You have the right to have us receive, hold, store, use, and (upon request) return, transfer and/or delete your personal information in a secure and reasonable manner, which respects your privacy.
  2. You have the right to contact us directly regarding any questions, concerns or problems you may have regarding your personal information, our use of it, and any possible release or wrongful use of such personal information.  You have the right to discuss such matters with an individual who is knowledgeable regarding our procedures and policies regarding personal information, and who can help you knowledgeably.  That person is our Data Protection Officer, who is described in detail below.
  3. You have the right to be notified by us if we become aware that a data breach may have affected the security or privacy of your personal information which is in our custody.  You have the right to be notified of such a potential data breach within seventy-two (72) hours of the time when we first become aware of it.
  4. You have the right to have your personal information returned to you by us, transferred to a third party specified by you, or deleted from our records, upon written request by you for us to take such action.  This written request will be handled by us in a reasonable time period, and any return or transfer of your personal information may be in machine-readable form consistent with our policies and procedures at the time.  In connection with this request, you may be asked by us to execute our standard documentation regarding such actions, including your acknowledgment that following the completion of such return, transfer or deletion of your personal information, we will be unable to respond to any future inquiries from you or third parties because we will have no ongoing record regarding you.
  5. Your rights regarding your personal information do not (a) require us to violate applicable law in any respect, as reasonably determined our counsel, (b) prevent us from complying with the order of any court of competent jurisdiction, (c) prevent us from responding to any subpoena or similar document issued by, or pursuant to the jurisdiction of, any court of competent jurisdiction, (d) prevent us from furnishing any of its appropriate personnel to testify in any proceeding of, or in any deposition ordered by, any court of competent jurisdiction, or (e) prevent or restrict us from providing reasonable cooperation to law enforcement authorities.

Data Protection Officer

If you have any questions, concerns or problems you may have regarding your personal information, our use of it, and any possible release or wrongful use of such personal information, or wish to have us return, transfer or delete such personal information, you should contact our Data Protection Officer, who is expressly tasked to respond to such inquiries.  Our Data Protection Officer can be contacted through support@datamanagementeducation.com, and will respond promptly to any such inquiries.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Because we value your privacy, we have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act.  We therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.

As part of the California Online Privacy Protection Act, all users of our site may make any changes to their information at any time by logging into their control panel and going to the 'My Account' page.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act); we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age.  Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
